Jonny B.D. is a writer, digital creator, and attorney residing in vibrant Washington DC. Jonny is profoundly fascinated with emerging technology, global affairs, and the transformative power of blockchain. After graduating from high school in Dayton, Ohio, Jonny cultivated a rich and diverse intellection foundation at Miami University of Ohio, where he studied psychology and classical humanities. Driven by a deep interest in national security law, Jonny attended Syracuse University College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor cum laude along with a certificate in National Security and Counterterrorism in 2012.
Notwithstanding his focus on national security, Jonny fell in love with criminal defense, joining the ranks of the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office in Rochester, NY, where he defended the constitutional rights of indigent people accused of crimes.
After ardently serving approximately four-thousand clients over a span of five years, Jonny decided to rekindle his original passion for national security and moved to Washington, DC in 2018 to pursue a Master of Laws in National Security Law from Georgetown University Law Center. In 2019, He graduated with distinction after immersing himself in cutting-edge legal issues like cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain. He then joined the regulatory compliance team of a leading cryptocurrency exchange until he was hired by his current employer in late 2020.
Since the completion of his Master of Laws, Jonny penned four academic legal articles tackling topics like AI, intelligence gathering, and social media, and each was published in a highly-respected American law journal. He has also lectured at Georgetown and Syracuse on the topic of blockchain in national security. Jonny is a voracious consumer of fiction – specifically science fiction and fantasy. Among his treasured literary companions are masterpieces like Hyperion, by Dan Simmons; Ancillary Justice, by Anne Leckie; American Gods, by Neil Gaiman, Neuromancer, by William Gibson; Parable of the Sower, by Octavia Butler;and City of Thieves, by David Benioff. Jonny spends his spare time immersed in the rich cultural tapestry of Washington DC, exploring its many museums and monuments, cycling, writing fiction with a cappuccino at a café, or playing soccer.
